Cumaru

Cumaru Decking is an extremely durable Pervuvian hardwood. It has incredible strength and natural resistance to decay, rot, fungi, boring insects and its fire rating makes it a perfect wood for long-life exterior decking. Cumaru's durability and characteristics are nearly identical to that of Ipe. We stock Cumaru with a factory sealant on all four sides. Cumaru can be resealed yearly or allowed to naturally weather to a beautiful, silver-gray patina. Cumaru Decking is rated 25 years against decay and insect damage. Cumaru is harvested from managed forest projects. It is naturally seasoned and kiln dried to prevent shrinkage.

WR Cedar

Our Western Red Clear Cedar decking, also called "custom clear", is a big step up from the more common STK knotty decking on the market. Our 5/4 x 6 is an attractive, very stable wood for exterior use, which is also highly resistant to decay. The fresh cut wood appears as a salmon pink color, which turns a coffe brown over time. Finishing is optional, but this product will be more stable and last longer if deck is washed and finished with the Messmers every 1 - 2 years.

Manufactured in Maine with a unique combination of technical expertise and old world craftsmanship. Correct Deck is (25%) stiffer, (25%) lighter than other composite decking, which makes it much easier to handle and install. No special tools for installation are required, no special stains or treatments for protection, and no annual maintenace other than cleaning. Best of all, Correct Deck is as safe and comfortable as it is beautiful and easy to maintain.

IPE

"ee-pay" (a.k.a. Pau Lope or Iron Wood) is an exceptionally dense, light grained, oily wood. It is the most durable, longest lasting, strongest exterior wood on the market. A South American hardwood that's generally a deep rich brown color with some boards displaying red and amber hues. Ipe has the highest rating for insect and decay resistance. Ipe is at least 5 times harder than pressure treated Pine, Douglas Fir, Redwood or Cedar. Used on the Atlantic City Boardwalk, Ipe is expected to last a minimum of 25-30 years. When comparing the cost to replace other decking, Ipe is actually a more economical alternative. Annual finishing is optional.
